Reprint: Last week, the fashion world celebrated “Fashion Week”, the new season of what the fashion savvy will be wearing. I was especially interested to see what they would come up with for the sophisticated woman in her fabulous fifties and sexy sixties. While no designer wants to be the designer to the Boomers, I was able to cull out a few trends that will work for us as we strive to remain relevant in a society that still doesn’t get it. We have more disposable income than any generation and maybe we’d spend some of it if we could find a pair of comfortable shoes!
Take a look at this fabulous sweater and hat combo. This would pair well with tailored slacks as well as jeans for a day of shopping or running errands. Just because you’ve retired doesn’t mean you’ve been permanently relegated to jogging suits.
Actress/Singer Vanessa Williams will be seen this fall as a new neighbor on ABC’s hit show “Desparate Housewives”. Vanessa will also premier a new line of handbags for the sophisticated woman. It appears that Vanessa has a hit.
I’m not necessarily craaazy about these Feraagamo pumps but they do look like walking shoes as opposed to shoes you show up with in your carry-all and change into once you get where you’re going. More with heels like these, please!
I love this little bag by Nine West. You’ll probably see me carrying it several times this season.
There is just something about the clean lines of this wrap coat by Max-Mara that speaks to me. Very chic for a night out or for Sunday service.
