Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong’o has been named by People Magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful Women and they’ve placed her on the cover! Now, Boomacious will watch as the world goes crazy and try not to get too upset when haters don’t agree with this choice.

Halle Berry, Beyonce, and Rihanna are beautiful women who have all received this honor and they have all deserved it. Now, so does Lupita Nyong’o. Just last night, Diane Sawyer and the World News team put the spotlight on little girls of black, white, Asian and Spanish ethnicities as they chose the prettiest doll from a selection featuring a white doll, a black doll, and a brown doll.

The little girls chose the white doll as the prettiest because she was white and had blonde hair. By the end of the program, they were actually pulling at the white doll to be the one who would take her home.

Some of you will remember that in January right after seeing 12 Years a Slave, Boomacious made Lupita Nyong’o our Facebook profile picture. In March when she won the Oscar, I was ecstatic. Well now I am over the moon! There have been too many discussions over what constitutes real beauty in the African American community. We have said, “She’s pretty for a dark-skinned girl”, too many times.

Pharrell said her skin was like pudding. Well guess what Pharrell? You and Boomacious were right. Thanks People Magazine for leading the way. Maybe mainstream America will go even further and select Lupita for leading roles and roles where she is the love interest instead of the maid, or the nanny, or the first one to be killed.
That would really show the world that BLACK girls Rock! It’s time that a black woman of full, rich, chocolatey color is recognized for her beauty. What do you think? Please comment or email me at
