Lifetime Movie Portrays Friendship of Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King

A Lifetime Original Movie will tell the real-life stories of Coretta Scott King and Dr. Betty Shabazz, Saturday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m./ 7 Central. The story will center around the life-long bond they created after their husbands’ tragic assassinations. While this may not be Mary J. Blige’s first acting role, it is certainly her first time paired with a powerhouse like Angela Bassett. I’m sure there was much weighing of the need to merge the two audiences, Baby Boomers and Gen X, to get the most bang for the network buck. Whatever the reason, we applaud the network’s timely tribute to Black History Month.
