I haven’t researched this yet so I don’t know how many official variations there are on sweet potato vines, but I have identified 6 which are all planted in my summer garden or in surrounding pots. The lime-green colored vine that we all love, is the most beautiful to me and it’s so easy to propagate. All I did was cut a piece from a mature plant and stick it in a jar of water. Within days, it had sprouted roots and was ready to plant in a pot of flowers.
The pictures will show you a broadleaf, red potato vine, and the same color red on another vine that sports pointier leaves. There is a variegated green and white variety that has very fine strips of pink around the edges. The fifth is a deep purple with jagged-edged leaves, and the sixth is a deep, deep green with broadleaves similar in form to the lime green. As always, I have pictures! Enjoy!
